Privacy Policy
Eumi is an app for parents and caregivers to log and track baby activities, from pregnancy onwards. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
You can use Eumi with a Google account or without an account (local mode).
When you sign in with Google, we receive:
- Your display name
- Your email address
- Your profile photo URL (if set)
When you use the app, we store:
- Baby profiles — name, due date and/or birth date, phase, photo or avatar, theme colour, and reminder settings
- Activity records — feeding, sleep, diaper changes, growth, health records (such as temperature, symptoms, medicines and vaccines, including any body locations you mark), pregnancy records, custom activities, and anything else you log, with timestamps, optional notes, and who logged them
- Memories — the text, dates and photos you add
- Your app preferences — appearance, units, language, week start and list view
- Caregiver relationships — which accounts have access to each baby profile, and their role (Parent or Caretaker)
- Share codes — invite codes you create, which expire after 7 days
For reminders set to "This device only", the app uses your device's app-specific Android ID to recognise the device. This ID is unique to Eumi and cannot be used to track you across other apps.
In local mode, all of this stays on your device and nothing is sent to our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used solely to:
- Display your baby's activity history, memories and statistics
- Sync data across devices signed in with the same account
- Share baby profiles with caregivers you explicitly invite
- Show reminders, notifications and home screen widgets that you set up
- Protect our servers from abuse (see Security below)
We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any commercial purpose. The app contains no ads and no third-party tracking.
3. Data Storage
Your data is stored in these places:
- Google Firebase Firestore (cloud, signed-in accounts only) — encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest, hosted on Google infrastructure
- Your device — a local database and cache for offline access, plus data that never leaves the device, such as running timers, widget settings, and the scheduling of reminders
- Android device backup — if backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include the app's local database and preferences in your device backup or transfer them to a new phone. This is controlled by your device and Google account settings. Your sign-in is not included.
4. Photos, Camera and Files
- Photos you choose for a baby profile or memory are picked with the Android photo picker or taken with your camera app. Only the photos you select are used. They are resized and stored with your baby's data.
- When you save or share a memory card, the image is saved to your device's Pictures/Eumi folder or passed to the app you choose to share with.
- Export data creates a JSON backup file at a location you choose. The file is not encrypted and includes photos, so keep it somewhere private.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:
- With caregivers you explicitly invite via a share code or invite link. Everyone with access to a baby can see that baby's profile, activities and memories. Parents can change roles and remove caregivers at any time.
- With Google, as our infrastructure provider: Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In (your account), Firestore (your data), and Firebase App Check with Play Integrity (verifying requests come from the genuine app). This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
- When required by law.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your data for as long as you use the app. You can delete it at any time from Settings → Account:
- Delete My Data — permanently removes all baby profiles you own, together with their activity records, custom activities, memories and photos, and your synced preferences. You are removed from babies shared with you. Your account remains active.
- Delete Account — does all of the above and also permanently deletes your account.
- Leave baby — removes your access to a baby someone else shared with you.
In local mode, Delete My Data erases everything from your device. Uninstalling the app also removes the data stored on your device.
Deleted data cannot be recovered. Copies outside the app, such as exported backup files, saved memory images or Android device backups, are not removed and are under your control.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Server-side security rules make sure only the caregivers of a baby can read or change its data, and Firebase App Check helps block requests that do not come from the genuine app. No method of storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
8. Children's Privacy
Eumi is intended for use by adult parents and caregivers. The app does not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Baby profile data (such as name, birth date and photos) is entered by adult users.
9. Your Rights
You can view and correct your data in the app at any time, export a copy of it (Settings → Sharing → Export data), and delete it as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your personal data. To exercise them, contact us using the details below.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available in the app under Settings → Privacy Policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
